Chris Scowden - CEO of Acuent Capital

Chris Scowden

FOUNDER/CEO

Chris is the Founder of Acuent Capital and serves as the CEO, shaping vision and strategy. Prior to Acuent, Chris was an executive in the Workforce Solutions and Staffing Industry where he held several senior leadership roles with some of the largest publicly traded staffing companies in North America.  A graduate of Arizona State University, Chris also holds a certification in LEAN Management. 

On a personal note, Chris enjoys time with his wife and three daughters, travel, and auto racing.

Tony Onorato - Chief Counsel

Tony Onorato

CHIEF COUNSEL

Tony’s litigation practice covers disputes across industry sectors, including at the state and federal trial and appellate levels, and before specialized tribunals such as the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission where he has represented American POWs and claimants held hostage during Iraq’s 1990-91 invasion of Kuwait.

His technology/IP practice covers multiple disciplines, including copyright and trademark enforcement; brand protection and domain portfolio management; technology transactions; cybersecurity and anti-cyberpiracy; privacy laws; and management of new Top-Level Domain registries.  He also represents clients in government investigations and agency compliance matters such as OFAC and Clean Water Act disputes, drawing on his years in Washington, DC as a lobbyist, campaign operative, consultant, and public opinion strategist.

Justin Seamonds - Board Member

Justin Seamonds

BOARD MEMBER

Justin has over 25 years in consumer facing business from CPG to retail, and crosses the spectrum of categories from food to durables to services, and many things in between.  Before going on to found his own specialty retail business, Justin was President of famous gourmet food icon Dean & DeLuca – first, leading its global expansion and then returning to lead and acquisition and repositioning of the business with his business partner.  Justin offers a deep background in finance, operations, branding, and strategy for consumer facing businesses and enjoys the challenges presented by early stage and established enterprises.  He has also implemented multiple ERP and strategic systems, and has a reputation as a builder of teams and developer of people.

Michelle Scowden - Board Member

Michelle Scowden

Michelle Alvarado-Scowden served as a Presidential Appointee with Department of Energy working at the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) where she lobbied on behalf of small business to government contracting offices. Prior to her government service, Michelle worked as a Program Manger at the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where she served as a liaison between small businesses, corporations and various government agencies.  Finally, Michelle spent several years a factory sales manager for Ford Motor Company throughout South and West Texas. Michelle obtained her BA degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Michelle is the mother of three daughters and recently co-authored a book titled “In Her Shoes-Me, Myself and I”.
